Yes, we finally do!

I've been rooting for this guy all along.
Through Drew, Vinnie, and the guy with the huge tongue (I'm too tired to think of his darn name right now...).
and FINALLY!!!
He really showed his stuff tonight, too! 35-14! Yea, BABY!
Dare I get my hopes up? Have we really found the quarterback to take us "there?" Only time will tell. But boy am I glad for the rookie! GO ROMO!!!

That's right folks- MY baby scored not 1, but 2 goals yesterday. He is damned proud, too! (he's not the only one)
You should have seen him running, OUTrunning everyone to get to the ball. Dribbling the ball, driving it down the field. Turning it around and going the right way (which is actually impressive in a 4 year old league!) Oh yes- my son! He was a total rockstar!

We were seriously considering quitting soccer after this season. He just wasn't as into it as we would like.
Uh, yea. Nevermind. We'll just move him to the appropriate league, and let him continue to learn and grow. He is really becoming driven to score, and so competitive.

I finished Jacob's Superman costume last night, and his old one (from last year) was just sitting in the closet. So I made a few alterations. I think Lucy may just abandon her plans to be a cowgirl for Halloween, and be a SUPERgirl instead!

And do see a theme here?
We like superheroes in this house. Superman, Spiderman, Mr Incredible and family, and Buzz Lightyear are our favorites!

A first time for everything

I had a car accident today. :o(
In 11 yrs of driving, I've only had 1 other: when I was rear ended at a red light.

Today, I was coming off the ramp and getting on the highway, and completely ran into this other car. I guess they had to have been in my massive blind spot. I never knew they were there until we were side-by-side.

It barely knocked the paint off of both cars, and some very minor dents. They were a very sweet older couple, and they refused to take my insurance info. That was the man's idea, his wife had already given me theirs (which I promptly put back in her hand).
It will be so much easier for each of us to fix our cars CHEAPLY than go through all the red tape and crap.

Nobody was hurt. The kids didn't even realize anything had happened. They were singing and eating chips in the backseat through the whole thing. When we pulled over, Jacob was like "Why'd you stop, Momma?"

My back is really hurting now, and stiff... but I think it is just from the stress of the incident. I couldn't have possibly been injured with such a small impact. We'll see how I feel in a couple of days...

Lucy was so sweet- she kissed the boo-boo on the van. :o)
I'm sure my paint & body next door neighbor guy can hook me up for next to nothing. I just have to catch him outside.

So... all in all- I had a crappy day. But it could have been so much worse!

I GOT MY BRACES OFF!!!



Do you have any idea how it feels to dislike something about yourself for your entire life? To eventually accept it, but not forget it.
I was used to my teeth. I was okay with them. Cotton fell in love with me, married me, told me I was beautiful daily- just the way I was.
But I told him that my kids would have braces. That my teeth really affected my confidence, my self esteem... that it was okay for me, but not for my kids.

He made me do it. I cried, I stressed, I fought him. But I went and got the braces. I endured 2 years and 4 months of physical pain, insecurity, endless appointments and an ANNOYING secratary. Not to mention the $$$ we spent.

And now it's done. My teeth are gorgeous, straight, and healthy.
I can't stop smiling. I flash them at everyone I see! I quite possibly spend hours a day looking in the mirror.

I'm happy. So happy. :o)

The tooth

Saturday afternoon Jacob was happily riding his bicycle (or his "Bipickles" as Lucy calls them) around the patio. Suddenly we hear screaming, and Cotton carries Jacob in with blood running out of his mouth.
We calm him down, as best we can, and start looking for the source of the blood. It's all coming from around one of his front teeth. Greeeaaat.
I tentatively put my finger to it, scared to death. Yep, it wiggles. Not a lot, but it definitely moves.

It's Saturday afternoon, and this doesn't qualify as an emergency- so we decide to watch it and wait for Monday.
Then today- before I get a chance to call the doctor, Guess what?
Lucy bangs the back of her head against the front of Jacob's face.
A little more blood, and a little more wiggle.

So- we met the new dentist here in town. Nice guy. He has his own 4 year old.
He said it's "not bad enough to pull. It may fall out on it's own, and it may change colors. Or it MAY just tighten back up and last him another couple of years."

Let's all hope for that last option!

Later on in the day, we stopped by Michelle's, and what does my child do? Jump on the trampoline (which is bad enough after a tooth is knocked loose!)- with a whistle in his mouth! AAAAaaaaaaaa! I ran screaming and confiscated that thing, faster than I even knew I could move! Lol!

My baby is definitely changing into a little BOY! And I have a feeling this is just the beginning!

Oh, Insomnia

I hate you so!
I have a very long, busy day ahead of me. I've been up since about 3, after going to bed at 11, and fighting Jacob for at least 2 hours.
Now he's in my spot, and I am roaming the house.
I had a bowl of cereal, watched a movie, read every last thread on DAM, folded a load of toweles, fed the cat, played with the cat, watched the news...
Of course NOW, an hour before I have to get ready to start my day- I am beginning to feel sleepy.

All I can say is "UGH!"

I think that, when we FINALLY get home at about 4:30 this afternoon... the kids and I will either take a nice nap, or have an early dinner and call it a night!

My heart just melted

Thursday night Lucy was sitting at the kitchen table playing with Grandma.
I walked up behing her and gave her a kiss on the cheek. She gave me a kiss back, and said
"I Wub me Momma."

That's the first time she has ever spontaniously said she loves me- or anyone.
She says "I wub you" when she says bye-bye. She says it back if you say ti to her first.
But I think the spontanious "I love yous" are the ones that are truly felt.

I wub me baby, too.

We went to a dress-up princess party last week, for the lovely Faith's 4th b-day!

A milestone

I've been putting this moment off with Lucy for as long as I could.
We even had a slight need to "go there," but I just wasn't ready.
I guess, as parents, we think we can control these things. Truly- we cannot.

Yesterday we were grabbing a few things at the dollar store, and cruised down the toy aisle just for kicks.
Jacob finda a Spiderman and a Hulk that he needs. Okay, fine. I never tell him no. Lol!

Lucy is looking at dolls, carefully considering which baby she might want to take home.
She comes running to me with a box. "Dis one, dis one!"
I say- Oh, Honey, it's a Barbie.
her: I want the bawbie, I want da bawbie.
me: Look at the sweet baby. She has brown hair like you.
Her: I want dis bawbie. And 1, 2, 3 bawbies. (grabs a couple more)
Me: Umm... Errrr... Really? Barbies? (but you're only 2! Boohoo!)

So... we left the store with 2 barbies. By the time we made it to the next store, 15 minutes later, they were both naked. She carried the naked barbies all around the grocery store with her too.

I guess that big dollhouse will finally get some use. We have officially entered the world of naked Barbies. Wish me luck!
