Aaaahhhh... it feels so good to be back!
Above all else internet-related, I have missed my blog!
My fabulous new best friend in the world, Melissa, fixed my "problem child" (aka my computer- if you're a little slow) right up for me!
I would offer to repay her with my firstborn, but I think she has enough children! heehee
Lots and lots has happened in the past couple of weeks.
I'll try to give you he condensed version.
After a VERY worrisome ultrasound, and a slight internal bleed- I have been sitting around worrying for 2 weeks if I'm really going to have a baby this spring after all.
Yesterday we went in for a follow up ultrasound, and saw the most beautiful little bean- complete with a teeny flickering firefly of a heart beating.
I'm not officially "out of the woods" until "the baby gets bigger than the bleed." I wish I understood more of what was going on in there- but the baby is attached and growing, and the doctor says that I really needn't worry. It's just that she can't "officially" give me an all clear at this time...
But the baby looks GREAT, and I am progressing right along with all the nasty old pregnancy symptoms you can think of. Oh, and I am 6 weeks along at this point. Very strange, considering that I know when my last period was, and even have a very good idea of when I ovulated- I should be 8 weeks!
But, as long as baby is growing properly- my little firefly can be on any schedule that he or she likes.
I have every reason to start buying maternity clothes and stockpiling new baby goodies!
The kids are obsessed with their new baby- they carry around the ultrasound picture, and love to "buy the baby something" every time we go shopping. So far, baby has a SpongeBob outfit, a pair of teeeeeny red crocs, a picture book, a yellow duck gown, a bib saying "I love my big sister," and one saying "I love my big brother."
Shopping is kind of tough when you don't know the gender- but we are shopping pros over here. We manage! Lol!
And while we're on the pregnancy subject- Tish has apparently sailed right through her first trimester! She's hit that magical 13 week mark!
Now the fun begins- the baby bump, the feeling good, the eating for 2, heehee, the shopping for new clothes, the big sonogram, the buying teeny clothes...!
She is supposed to come show me pictures of my niece or nephew when she gets off of work today! Yay!
(and can I just say how JEALOUS I am!? I want to be 13 weeks!)
And as for the other pregnant chick in my life- Fiona is now the proud mommy of triplets!
They were born at some point between July 15-19, while we were out of town. Of course.
There are 2 beautiful orange and white mini-Fionas: Josephine and Jordan. And a smoky gray tabby: John.
I can't actually tell what gender they are (such teeny little parts- and they all look the same to me), but Jacob named John and Josephine, and I helped him with the last one's name a bit. :-)
As soon as I download some new photo editing software- I'll share baby pictures!
HARRY POTTER!
I thought I was soooo LUCKY to have pre-ordered my book. No standing in line at midnight, no rushing out to find a copy.
Well, at about noon on Saturday I was not feeling lucky. I was feeling anxious and MAD!
Millions of people everywhere were already reading, and I was at home, sick and bored- checking my doorstep and mailbox every 30 minutes.
It finally came at about 2:15, while I was in the midst of cooking and preparing for company. Niiiice.
Cotton chased our company off at about 9, saying (thank goodness) "Sorry y'all, but my little wife has a book that she's been waiting a long time to read!" I know I married him for a reason! He may not get the Harry craze, but he indulges me!
Harry is a really nice name for a boy, no?
Too bad Cotton doesn't agree. :-(
And on that note- this baby had better be a girl. Boy names are really eluding us at the moment!
So now all I have are the next 2 movies to look forward to, and then the Potter phase of my life will be finished.
Speaking of that- I need to BUY the movies. Jacob would love to see them all in order. I don't think he's ready for the books- far too dark for a tender and sensitive soul like him, not to mention too long to read to him. But the movies would be okay...
Miss Lucy is all enrolled at her new preschool.
In light of recent changes our family is making, and because I want to stay closer to Jacob- I was thrilled to find a school MUCH closer to home that offers the kind of education, and the kind of hours, I am looking for.
I haven't pulled her out of the other preschool *just yet*, but once I go to the parent meeting and meet her actual teacher, I think we'll go ahead and commit fully.
Her spot is saved and paid for- it's just a matter of pulling her from school #1 at this point.
Miss Lucy. My baby joy.
One of these days- I really am going to change her name to Lucy Joy. Just you wait!
Her newest phrase is by far the truest thing she's ever said.
I love it. I want to tattoo it on her!
"I'm gonna do it my own way!"She said that about 3 times yesterday, and once today.
Has there ever been any thing more LUCY than that? I think not!
Jacob is completely obsessed, and on cloud nine, with the Nintendo Game Cube that Uncle BJ gave him.
OMG. It is almost pitiful.
And he has gotten
GOOD! Really good! Kids are just amazing. He is so much better at controlling that thing than I am. Cotton has been putting in some practice time, and I laugh as I type this: They are pretty evenly matched.
Thay play Cars, and it's about 50/50 on who wins the races. Lol.
We are getting geared up for school.
Both kids have new backpacks and new lunchboxes (although Lucy doesn't actually need a lunchbox). We still need to make a school clothes and tennis shoes trip, but since somebody decided to cheat my husband out of 26 hrs of overtime (long story for another day), those will have to wait 2 more weeks.
Jacob goes next week to test for the Spanish immersion kindergarten class. I am nervous- but will be
shocked if my little brainiac doesn't get in.
I am not weepy over the impending school year... not yet.
I have been trying not to think about it.
Miss baby will only be going for 6 hours a week, and I can watch her online all day if I want. They have cameras everywhere in that school.
Jacob... well... I think everyone knows how I feel about 40hrs a week of kindergarten. I am still not thrilled. And I am still perfectly willing to homeschool, should it come to that. But we are going to give it a good old try. And I'm sure my little guy will be fine.
I may get arrested for peeking in the windows, but
he'll be fine. :-(
A big HELLO to Shaun!
Cotton and I both were shocked that you even knew about the blog! Lol!
Thanks for coming out of the closet! I will definitely hit him for you when he gets home, for not telling you about the baby, although in his defense- with the bleeding and all, we have been kind of hush hush for the past couple of weeks.
Okay, my loves. Nausea and dizziness are kicking in. Time for me to eat and lie down for a minute.
